Wk05 Logo Design Final Phase

So here is my final title screen. I did not change much from the concept images. The only things I added is the menu, which is in a standard three part format with a red diamond shaped cursor. The animations are pretty simple, just the moon changing phases and leaves and grass blowing in the wind.

Wk05 logo design concept phase

The title screen I took inspiration from is Xenoblade Chronicles. The title screen is fairly simple. It shows mostly the environment, and a main gameplay aspect in the center of the screen.

For my title screen, I decided to show a moonlit field, with a tree in the background. For animation, the moon will gradually change phases, and the wind will blow through the grass, and shakes leaves from the tree. The background is the moon and sky. The mid-ground elements are the tree and the grass. The foreground element is the logo.

Wk04 Mood board final phase

The color scheme stayed the same because it is mostly black, white, and grey. The common graphics that I added to each the crescent moon in the corner, and the white grass on the bottom. The moon and the grass relate to what the environment will look like in the game. I also removed the picture in the environment mood board, and replaced it with a picture of a haunted forest. Many of the first levels will take place in a similar environment.

Wk04 Mood Board Concept Phase

This is a mood board for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. It is a very dark game with Gothic elements. The colors are mostly dark with the exception of the highlights towards the center of the image. The game is one of my favorites, and many of the concepts inspired the game I am currently working on. Since the game is very dark it is only natural that it uses dark colors.

Next is the mood board for the gauntlet. The gauntlet will most likely be the color of dark worn-out metal. The gem in the center will be clear when not in use, and will change color depending on the attack.

The basic color scheme for the environment will be different shades of black and white. The only color will be supplied by things the player can interact with such as enemies or treasures.

The antagonists will be wearing dark cloaks, and possibly white masks. Color will come in during boss fights but only for their attacks. Other than that its pretty much the same dark color scheme.

As I'm sure you noticed by now all of these pictures have the same color schemes. Black background, white text, and red header. The only variation comes from the outside pictures. So the color scheme for the game will most likely follow this pattern.

Wk03 Game Pitch Final Phase

Nightlands (working title) is a 3rd person action/adventure game with rpg elements. The game focuses on combat using a weapon called The Gauntlet, and exploration in the Nightlands. The Nightlands are a separate world from our own, and can be thought of as an underworld.

One of the key gameplay features is combat. The Gauntlet allows the hero to use magic, and as the hero uses different types of magic, the Gauntlet will materialize a different weapon (e.g. fire magic yields claws, wind magic yields a bow and arrows, forest magic yields a whip etc.) Different weapons will be needed to defeat different enemies, and explore the environment.
The Nightlands are on a different plane of existence. The environment is based on middle-earth from The Lord of the Rings and features mountains, forests, and rivers. The atmosphere is based on various underworlds from various books and video games. The environment and atmosphere mix the natural world with the supernatural world. The player will have various places to explore, and many enemies to fight.

The Story of Nightlands tells of a warrior whose wife was abducted and murdered by an evil order whose goal was to open a portal to the Nightlands in order conquer it and obtain power. The Hero journeys into the Nightlands to stop the dark order, and save the soul of his wife. His journey will take him all over the mysterious world undoing the corruption the order has brought into it, and gaining powers of his own.

Wk03 game pitch concept phase

Right now the working title for the game is Nightlands. The three areas I'm going to focus on right now are gameplay, environment, and story.
Gameplay: I'm hoping to make it an 3rd person action/adventure game with rpg elements. The combat is going to focus on the gauntlet, which can perform magic attacks, but will also materialize a weapon based on the magic type (e.g. fire type magic will change the gauntlet into a claw).
Environment: The game takes place during the middle ages, in a plane of existence known as the Nightlands. The Nightlands are a separate realm from our world, and creatures both mystic and dangerous live there. The environments range from a vast forest, to a vast mountain-range with a complex network of caves. The Nightlands are a dark, ghostly place comparable to the ancient greek underworld.
Story: Nightlands tells the story of a warrior whose wife was sacrificed by an evil order whose goal was to open a portal to the Nightlands. The warrior then goes on a journey into the Nightlands in order to save the soul of his wife, take revenge on the order, and close the door to the Nightlands.
Below are some images of the basic idea for the gauntlet, and a sketch of the environment along with a picture of what I want the environment to be like.

Wk02 Rock Paper Scissors Final Phase

So I went with template number 5 of my original 10 thumbnails. I like it for the simplicity, and the easy to read layout. I went with a red and black color scheme just so the post wasn't too basic. I also went with the slogan across the middle instead of the title as one of the comments in the concept phase suggested. The image in the middle is three separate images instead of one image.

Wk02 Rock, Paper, Scissors concept phase

So here are ten thumbnails for Rock Paper Scissors, most of them are pretty basic. Around number 7 I decided to add a slogan for the game. Something like "Which Will You Choose?" or "The Game of Kings". My favorite is probably number 7 as it uses all available space with the header, three pictures, the introduction and rules, and the slogan.

Below are the three images I plan to use, they're pretty self-explanatory. I'm looking to keep it simple, maybe use the idea in thumbnail number 5 having arrows designating what beats what.
